Measures

What do YOU measure a life in and by? Good or bad.

  1. Sorry Eve, I'm late bird again. You're and extrovert? In that case you have learned really well the introvert traits, so don't forget to give yourself credit for that one. I'm introvert and kinda thought that you might be one too... (or then I fell into matching theory...). Anyway, quite a book you found. I need to search that and read it too, sounded so thought triggering - might be just right thing to confuse my confusion even more to get the confusion confused.

Can you really measure it either or? I believe that people are good but that life puts the poison in in different forms. So if the base for measuring is humanity, I guess I measure in good. But if we start from life... well it's not good or bad on it's own but the abilities and limitations we have make the interpretation what ever, so it can be transferred to "bad". Note here, I understand the world as different energies, so bad is like the negative energy... can I say I measure life in energy? Because if it feel purely negative to someone it might still be hidden positive to someone else and we need that to grow. And why energy, because I'm so sensitive to it so it's easier to understand my head and how same people can effect on me so differently. To me it's not either or, it's not black and white, it's like a rainbow with even further color scale it doesn't show. But how do you measure it?

  2. I'm am actually extremely extroverted and the sort of person that starts conversations with strangers with ease. Social butterfly, the works. :) I'll give myself credit just because you thought I was. Just a deep thinker. Or a too much thinker.

Yes! Read it! It's interesting. All his books are great.

Interesting. I like that. Good answer.

My measure. Well, all life is valuable, regardless of mistakes. If you're remorseful for your wrongs and want to really live then that's value. I guess it could be interpreted in many ways. I meant living life. Tomorrow it could be if a life is valuable. We value it though. Both , I mean. The human existence is ambiguous when it comes to explaining it. There is never black and white. There are rainbows. It's beautiful. All of it. The ugly makes us human just like the beautiful things. <3 I hope your doing well lovely

  3. um. I measure life in coffee, in sunsets, in movies and chocolate. In loooooovvvveee, love, love. Sorry...I had a RENT moment. Um. that's a really big question. It's only 1 am, I am not that sleep deprived to be that philosophical.

I like this one though. I measure it in those moments that you know you're never going to forget. Like texting that boy until the sun comes up when you know nothing will come of it. Or that split second you realize a song will become the anthem of your life. Or when you realize that this person next to you will become you're best friend. Sorry, I just watched Lost In Translation, which is a beautiful movie. Love you dear. What do you measure it in?

    1. I quote Forrest Gump accidentally and frequently so movie moments are accepted haha

I measure it by road trips with the radio turned up and that smoke I get when I know the words and we sing them all silly and in ridiculous volumes. In times I feel my heart swell in church. In sunsets, kind words, small acts of kindness on bad days, fulfilled hopes, character challenges, learning something new about someone, sharing a life story together, existing with someone in a raw form with that honesty that comes from sharing struggles together or in a testimony form. Life is beautiful. :) I love you dear!

  4. Happiness I guess, whatever that is. At the same time I'm afraid of being happy because where do you go from there? I think I always need something to look forward to, another life maybe, where I am just that: happy.

    1. It is an interesting thought, once you find happiness, what do you do from there? Considering all people want in life is happiness..do you finally sit back and relax? Hmm.

    2. I think you're supposed to help others find their happiness. :) a cycle. A beautiful one. Sort of hippy-esque but I think if you have love and joy then you should give some to others.

    1. Yes! That's a great explanation! I think you can't measure life if you aren't sharing it with others.

  6. I've never really thought about this question before (apart from singing Seasons of Love from Rent too! Haha!). Although I don't measure life in five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes, there are definitely days where I have to measure life in minutes or hours just to be able to get through the day.

You got me thinking though, about the things I value in life - singing with my choir in church every Sunday, feeling at ease with a close friend and being able to please or help people as much as possible, I suppose are the main ways I measure life.

It's been so interesting to read everyone's comments!

  7. Good question. I measure life by experiences- memories. And relationships.
I like that everyone has said love. It's so true!
